The ministry of Citadel of Praise is "Lead by example," which will have a profound impact throughout the city, state, nation and world.

Citadel of Praise COGIC is spirit led and scripture based.  It is comprised of many ministries: family support, community outreach, youth development, evangelism, economic empowerment/development and many more.

After years of prayer, Elder Thomas Colbert founded Citadel of Praise.  The first service was held, Wednesday, February 1, 1995, at the home of Pastor and First Lady Thomas Colbert.

While the Lord anointed the services at the Pastor's home, the Pastor and members continued with expectancy, praying and searching for a building facility to hold services.

At the end of March 1995, the Lord moved on the heart of Deacon Claude Booker (of Watson Temple COGIC, Pastor Colbert's home church), to speak with the Pastor about the possibility of acquiring a facility where he had recently done some painting. This immediately agreed in the spirit of Pastor Colbert, and within minutes, he and Deacon Booker went to view the facility.  Due to the lateness of the hour, the building was locked and no key could be obtained until the morning.  This did not deter Pastor Colbert.  He promptly pulled his car in front of the window and peeped inside.  It still felt right in the Pastor's spirit.  Before leaving the grounds, Pastor Colbert took one of his newly printed church business cards and stapled it to the door.  That very night, Pastor Colbert went to the home of Mother D.K. Richardson, who was already dressed for bed.  Mother D.K. Richardson got dressed and she and Pastor Colber went back to view the "New Church Home."  The two of them prayed a prayer of faith, asking God for favor and to remove every hindrance to obtaining the facility, if it was His will.

Well, God was faithful, Pastor Colbert obtained the lease on the property at 2016 B South Adams Street.  On April 2, 1995, Citadel of Praise held it's first official service in their new Church home.  God has continued to bless and powerfully anoint his ministry for kingdom building.
